Last month I had the privilege, along side Leslie Shepherd Photography, to capture this beautiful soul, also known as my sister, Maria!
This girl is so strong and courageous -- a brave super human!
The last six months have been filled with four surgeries, multiple hospital stays and six horrid rounds of chemo, only to have our hopes crushed.
Maria, now 25, was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer in Oct 2014.
She had a total hysterectomy and her appendix and gallbladder were removed.
That was followed by six hellish, three week rounds of chemo -- a total of 18 weeks.
After the last chemo treatment, we celebrated!
Disappointingly, one week later we found out that the cancer had spread and the chemo did not do its job, except for the havoc it wreaked on the rest of her body.
Through it all, Maria always keeps a positive attitude. She goes as far as putting other's feelings and needs ahead of her own. I love her so much and I'm so proud to call her my sister!
We celebrate the beauty through the pain!
We take courage in knowing that this is not the end of the story!
We know that it's okay to not be okay!
We stay strong and fight together!
Proverbs 31:25
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
